Killer interview mistakes to avoid -
Executioner talk with slip-ups to keep away from - The drum is thumping for a new position in 2013. Its up to you to get it going, and its not as hard as you may might suspect. Straightforward advances have a significant effect, particularly with regards to fruitful meetings. Stay away from these executioner talk with errors and youll be that a lot more like a new position. 1. Dont get ready what to wear. This is a greater misstep than you may understand. At the point when you venture into your storage room to choose your meeting clothing and discover something has bitten its way through the sleeve, or you overlooked the colossal ketchup stain on your fortunate tie, you could be in a difficult situation in the event that you dont have an arrangement B. What you look like is significant, and you have to introduce an expert appearance. Regardless of whether you arent talking to be a design diva, consider getting ready what to wear a need. 2. Disregard your Ps and Qs. No one can tell who is strolling in directly behind you on your way to the meeting. It wont establish a generally excellent connection in the event that you let the entryway hammer on your questioner. All that you do or say at the meeting â" or while in transit to the meeting â" can be a piece of the assessment. A few organizations approach the assistant for a conclusion about up-and-comers. In the event that you lounged around feigning exacerbation or acting irritated while you paused, youre not liable to find the activity. 3. Take a seat before somebody offers it to you. Its simply basic kindness to hold on to be offered a seat. 4. Answer your mobile phone. It doesnt matter how significant you are: turn off your PDA and set it aside when youre meeting. In the event that you overlook and instinctually answer it when it rings or hums, you might be bidding farewell to another chance. 5. You dont know why you need the activity. Alright, we as a whole realize you need an occupation, however why this specific position? In the event that you dont know why this activity is a solid match, youre burning through everyones time with the meeting. You should comprehend what the activity includes, why your abilities are a solid match and why you are a superior applicant than the last individual met. 6. Your answers babble. Try not to torment your questioner by drawing out your answers. Answer the question and be done â" don't intricate or develop your answers more than should be expected. To what extent should answers be? Sufficiently long to address the inquiry and ensure the questioner gets an opportunity to picture you carrying out the responsibility. 7. Youre making weak jokes. Dont joke. Regardless of whether you think your jokes are clever, keep them out of the meeting room. You are similarly prone to insult as you are to divert a questioner, so dont take a risk. 8. Youre abusing your past manager. It doesnt matter on the off chance that you worked for Atilla the Hun, your questioner doesn't have to know how appallingly your old boss rewarded you. Remain quiet about it, and don't be enticed to share stories â" regardless of what the questioner asks you. 9. Youre presenting heaps of data. Truly, there is something like this is TMI in a meeting. This wonder happens when the activity searcher gets apprehensive and begins sharing data that isnt extremely important or, more awful, is negative. 10. You cannot enlighten me regarding yourself. On the off chance that you dont have a response to this conspicuous inquiry, things most likely arent going to go easily. Be set up to bring yourself without digging into unimportant anecdotal subtleties. Never start, I was conceived in If you do, you can be certain your questioner has just looked at. Rather, center around how the position is a solid match dependent on your past encounters and achievements and extra the questioner the insights concerning where you grew up! 11. You dont have your story straight. Nobody is recommending you lie in a meeting, however many employment searchers have stories theyd rather not tell. For instance, on the off chance that they were terminated, or on the off chance that they had a significant character conflict with their previous chief. On the off chance that you have this kind of history in your experience, the best arrangement is to conclude how to address it before you get to the meeting, so on the off chance that it comes up, theres nothing to be astonished about. Your objective? Get in and get out â" not actually, yet allegorically: rapidly address the inquiry and afterward quit talking. 12. You don't have anything to inquire. Truly â" on the off chance that you need the activity, you ought to have a few very much considered requests for your questioner that can't be replied with a snappy Google search about the organization. Youll be shocked by what a small number of up-and-comers try to explore associations before they meet, so any sharp inquiries referencing your exploration should help intrigue your questioner. 13. You dont development. Factually, barely any individuals really send cards to say thanks after meetings. You get an opportunity to establish a positive connection when you catch up with focused, mistake free notes expressing gratitude toward your questioner for their time. Incorporate a few key tokens of why you are the most ideal contender for the activity. photograph by SWARM Sounds

TIME My $300 Billion New Years Resolution - Workology
TIME My $300 Billion New Years Resolution - Workology Time is my New Years Resolution in 2014 Time is my New Years Resolution in 2014 I took a stay at home vacation this week, and it was fabulous. With the exception of this blog post and less than a handful of work calls and emails, I havent written or done a damn thing related to work. Its been the most vacation Ive had in 4 years. This week I had the privilege of doing some really awesome and normal things. (Click here to get the full rundown from my Instagram.) Went to the beach with my daughter Slept in every day until after 7:00 AM Painted gold stripes on my living room walls Made homemade cinnamon rolls Re-arranged my bedroom furniture at 11:00 PM just because Pinned pins on Pinterest. Hence the bedroom re-arranging and stripes on walls Since I cant remember my life has been go-go-go, and its been nice to have no schedule and take the day at its own pace which for me means time to organize sock drawers and plant succulents in my outdoor garden in California. These are things that I enjoy doing but have abandoned in my personal life due to the fact that there arent enough hours in the day. In retrospect, while I have enjoyed the time off and away, I have been working unpacking, organizing and just living life. This living life thing is fun and yet exhausting. Its work. Its also not something I do enough of. More importantly, why am I taking time off to just catch up? What is this thing thats a barrier to me just enjoying and living life? Meet Stress. Your Personal Kill Joy This is your life and my life with stress, and its not okay. Its effectively taking over, running and managing our lives. Stress is a silent killer of relationships, families and life. And yet we welcome it with open arms like we do that late night email or work call from our boss. We cant shut it off. And by it I mean our electronics, our Facebook (speaking from experience), the constant worrying about money, what you dont have that everyone else does. Its the ultimate personal and life kill joy and yet we let it control, run and manage our lives. Why? Why and how do we let this new stress-filled balance-less normal creep into our life? A stunning ninety-three percent of employees, admit to running personal errands at work not including those like me who take time off just to catch up with daily life. There truly are just not enough hours in the day. Time Management Hacks are Hacked Ive tried reading Tim Ferriss 4 Hour Workweek, but all it made me feel was depressed and angry at the way he hacked the system effectively cheating to find more time using time management tactics and less stress. Is this the only way? Its been over two years since I read that book, and I believe that much of what Tim said was utter bullshit. Hes never been a woman, a mom and someone who has to balance taking a conference call, while sweeping the kitchen floor covered in Cherrios while making their kids a brown bag lunch, so until hes done that, hes just a guy selling a gimmick to me. For the record, talking about Tim Ferris stresses me out. Maybe his next book can be the 4 Hour Therapy. Your Job is Your Number 1 Cause of Life Stress Studies tell us that stress is bad. It ages and adds weight to our bodies and is a self-fulfilling cycle feeding its selfish ambitions over and over again. It creates barriers to living life. Whether you are an entrepreneur like me, stay at home parent, a boss or an employee, there is no work life balance when it comes to stress. Doing the average is stress filled and time is something there is never enough. The American Psychological Association, American Institute of Stresss 2013 Stress study highlights how stress regardless of its source infiltrates our business and personal lives. 31 percent Employed adults who say they have difficulty managing work and family responsibilities The Number 1 cause of stress is job pressure followed by money and health Stress costs employers $300 Billion in employee productivity, missed work and health care costs While exercise, eating healthy and drinking in moderation is good, what I really need, what I really need is less stress and more time in my life. This week reminded me of that as I spent the afternoon folding socks, preparing frozen casseroles and steam cleaning my upstairs floors. Time is my New Years Resolution in 2014.
